About the Village

The Australiana Pioneer Village, located at Wilberforce in the Hawkesbury region, preserves Australia’s colonial heritage through original and replica buildings that have been relocated from across the district. It provides an immersive experience of 19th-century rural life, including various community facilities such as:

- Schoolhouse

- Homesteads

- Blacksmith’s shop

- Church

- Post Office

- Sheering shed

- Bank

- Rose Cottage (the oldest timber dwelling in Australia).

The village’s purpose is to showcase the daily lives, skills, and challenges of settlers, offering students the opportunity to engage in  experiential learning (Kolb, 1984) .By exploring this resource, learners gain insight into local history, continuity and change, and the development of communities in early colonial Australia.
